60-micron-thick flexible monocrystalline silicon solar cell folds like paper

  • As a company that produces solar and energy storage products, is excited to share the news of a breakthrough research achievement by Chinese scientists in the field of flexible solar cells. According to a cover article published in the prestigious journal Nature, the researchers from Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Changsha University of Science and Technology and other institutions have developed a technique to make large-scale, high-efficiency silicon solar cells that can be folded like paper. The cells retain 100% of their power conversion efficiency after 1,000 side-to-side bending cycles. This is a milestone achievement that opens up new possibilities for the application of flexible solar cells.

  • STBeeBright Energy is committed to providing innovative and sustainable solutions for clean energy generation and storage. We are inspired by the latest advances in solar cell technology and we look forward to exploring new ways to integrate flexible solar cells into our products and services. We believe that flexible solar cells have great potential for creating photovoltaics integrated into buildings and wearable electronics, which are lightweight, shockproof and self-powered.
  • We congratulate the Chinese scientists for their remarkable accomplishment and we hope to collaborate with them in the future. For more information about their research, please refer to their paper titled “Flexible solar cells based on foldable silicon wafers with blunted edges” published in Nature on May 24, 2023.
